Address BookMore InformationThe Address Book tool lets you keep track of contact information. You can access this information whenever you log into Blackboard. The Address Book functions identically whether you access it from the My Institution area or from inside a course.
Adding a ContactFrom the My Institution area:
Searching for a Contact
- Click on the Address Book link in the Tools section.
- Click on the Add Contact button.
- Type the contact’s information in the appropriate Information fields.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.
From the My Institution area:
Viewing Contacts Alphabetically
- Click on the Address Book link in the Tools section.
- Click on the Last Name or Email radio button depending on your type of search.
- Type your search criteria in the Search field.
- Click on the Search button.
Note: Contacts that match your search string will appear. Blackboard searches for substring matches, so a search for “mit” will return the names “Smith” and “Mitchell.”From the My Institution area:
Viewing All Contacts
- Click on the Address Book link in the Tools section.
- Click on the A–Z, 0–9 tab.
- Click on the number or letter link you wish to see.
Note: All contacts with last names beginning with that number or letter will be displayed.From the My Institution area:
- Click on the Address Book link in the Tools section.
- Click on the Search button.
Q: I am enrolled in several classes, so why don’t my classmates and instructors show up in my address book?
A: Your address book contains only contacts that you enter yourself. It is not linked to the course enrollment roster. You may be able to see contact information for your classmates in the class roster or user directory.
