AssignmentsYour Instructor can create Assignments and add them to a Content area. Assignments list the name, description, and attachments for class work. Complete the assignment using the tool (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) requested by the instructor and upload it into the course. You can also include comments to your instructor.
Save AssignmentsThis will allow you upload your assignment, but are not ready to submit to your instructor. Instructors are unable to access your files until you Submit.
From the Course view:
- Locate the Assignment in a Course Content Area and click on the link.
Note: The assignment link can be anywhere within the course. Your instructor can choose where to place each assignment.

- Read the Assignment Information (Name, Instructions, Attached File).
- Type your comments to the instructor in the text box.
- Click on the Browse button to upload your file.
Note: File names are important, please review correct naming structures.
If you have more than one file to upload, click on the Add Another File button.- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Save button.

Note: By saving the file, it will not be accessible to the instructor.Submit Assignments

More Information
Q: My instructor says he is unable to download my file, why?
A: If you have named your file incorrectly and uploaded it into the course... the type of the file can be lost and the file appears to be gibberish when it is opened or cannot be opened at all by the instructor. File names should not be longer than 32 charters including the file extension (.doc). Please view the correct naming below:
- name.doc
- name_name.doc
- NameName.doc
- name1.doc
- name_1.doc
INCORRECT
- name name.doc
- name-name.doc
- name&name.doc
- name#1.doc
- name/name.doc
- name.name.doc
- the dog ran over the fence across the field.doc
Review Submitted Assignments
After you have submitted the assignment you are able to review the assignment information.
From the Course view:
- Locate the Assignment in a Course Content Area and click on the link.
Note: The assignment link can be anywhere within the course. Your instructor can choose where to place each assignment.

- Within the Review Assignments you may confirm that the file was uploaded. Click on the file to download it from Blackboard to your computer.

Review Graded Assignment Information
Once the instructor grades the assignment, you will also be able to see the grade and access any file they may have uploaded for you.
From the Course view:

- Within the Review Assignments page the grade, comments and files can be accessed.
