Scheduled Maintenance

Upgrades / Installs / Patches

Occasionally ITS will upgrade software, add new software or add patches to the Blackboard system. When performing these tasks the Blackboard server can be down or need to be rebooted. If we are scheduled to perform one of these tasks, it will be listed in the table below.

Sunday Morning Maintenance

Sunday mornings from 6 AM -12 PM, Cal Poly occasionally performs maintenance on their computer systems in Building 14. Since Blackboard is housed in Building 14, it may also be unavailable during this time. If you try to access Blackboard and you are not sure if maintenance is being performed, call the Cal Poly ITS Service Desk (756-7000) to confirm.

Quarterly Maintenance (Removal of Old Courses)

Each quarter the past courses, which are more than five quarters old, will be deleted from Blackboard on the last day of the third week. Course content can be copied to current courses via the Course Copy tool or can be Archived and saved on your desktop.
