Discussion Grader

This extra tool (Building Block) that has been added to our current version of Blackboard (v. 6.3.1.645) allows the instructor to easily grade Discussion Board Forums. Once a Discussion Board Forum has been create, then the instructor can use the Discussion Grader tool for grading the student input.

Enable the Discussion Grader for a Forum

From Control Panel:

1. Click on the Discussion Grader link in the Course Tools section. This will display a list of the Forums.
2. Click on a Forum link.
   
3. Choose a Gradebook item or create a New Gradebook Item.
   
4. Fill out the new Gradebook Item web form.
   Note: If you are creating a New Gradebook Item, click on this tutorial link for assistance.
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.

Grading a Discussion

From Control Panel:

1. Click on the Discussion Grader link in the Course Tools section. This will display a list of the Forums.
2. Click on the Forum link.
3. Click on the Grade button on the right of the page.
   
4. Review the posts and assign a grade.
   
5. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.

Q: How do I assess the student forum information?
A: Once you have created the link to the Gradebook, you can access the information about student posts via the Control Panel > Discussion Grader > click on the Forum link.
