Glossary ManagerMore InformationEach course has its own Glossary of terms. Each entry consists of the term and an accompanying definition.
Note: You must enabled the Glossary before students can view it. To turn on the Glossary, simply enable it as a Course Tool and then add it to the Course Menu.Add Term
From the Control Panel:
- Click on the Glossary Manager link in the Course Tools section.
- Click on the Add Term button.
- Type the term and definition into the fields.
Note: Adding a term which already exists in the Glossary in upper, lower, or mixed case will overwrite the previous definition of the term.- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.
Upload Glossary
From the Control Panel:
- Click on the Glossary Manager link in the Course Tools section.
- Click on the Upload Glossary button.
- Click on the Browse button in the Specify Upload File section.
Note: Only a CSV (Comma-Separated Value) file can be uploaded into the Glossary. The file must be a text file that contains a term and a definition on each line, separated by commas. For example: "Apple","A red fruit."- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.
Options:
- Add the items in the list to the existing Glossary – Select this option to supplement the existing Glossary with a list of new terms. If a term appears in both the existing Glossary and the file, the definition in the file will replace the definition in the existing Glossary. If the same term appears two or more times in the file, the last definition for the term will appear in the Glossary.
- Delete all existing Glossary terms and replace with the terms in this list – Select this option to remove the existing Glossary and replace it with the terms in the upload file.
Download Glossary
From the Control Panel:
- Click on the Glossary Manager link in the Course Tools section.
- Click on the Download Glossary button.
- Click on the Download button.
If you are unable to download a file (link) by clicking on it...Depending on the browser (Netscape, IE, Safari, or Firefox) computer (Mac or PC), and mouse you can download it by:
- Right click on the link: Download to Disk.
- Right click on the link: Save Link Target As.
- Right click on the link: Save Link As.
- Option/ Alt, Left Click : Save Link As.
- Control, Left Click: Download Link to Disk.
- Control, Left Click: Save Link As.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.
Q: I am unable to get my Glossary file uploaded, why?
A: The file format and file type is very important. Make sure that the file name is correct.
