Guest Access

The Guest Access tool lets you permit users (Cal Poly faculty, staff or students) who are not enrolled in your course to access your course. You can let students who are interested in your course view course content. You can limit which areas your guests can access via Manage Tools.

Note: People who do not have accounts within the Cal Poly Blackboard system will not be able to access your course as a guest. If you have questions about this, please review the policies page.

Enabling Guest Access

From the Control Panel:

  1. Click on the Settings link in the Course Options section.
  2. Click on the Guest Access link.
  3. Click on the Yes radio button.
  4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.

Q: If I allow guest access, will guests be able to view the course roster or send email?
A: No, the communication areas of the course is limited to Cal Poly faculty, staff and students within that course.
