Set Course Entry Point

The Set Course Entry Point tool lets you choose the page your Blackboard course will open up to. Blackboard automatically opens to the Announcements page by default.

Setting the Course Entry Point

From the Control Panel:

1. Click on the Settings link in the Course Options section.
2. Click on the Set Course Entry Point link.
3. Choose a Blackboard page from the Entry Point menu.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.

Q: Why does Blackboard open to the Announcement page by default?
A: Having the Announcement page open first lets you post timely, critical information for your students to view.

Q: Why would I want my students to enter my course through some other page?
A: If you were using just one or two of Blackboard’s features, such as the discussion board and the online grade book, you would want the course to open to a utilized section and not the Announcements page.
