Manage Tools

The Manage Tools tool lets you enable or disable the various tools offered with the Blackboard system. Tools are the additional features that Blackboard offers for students and instructors beyond content delivery, such as email, student homepages, and the Gradebook.

Enabling and Disabling Tools

From the Control Panel:

1. Click on the Manage Tools link in the Course Options section.
2. Click on the desired Tools links...
   ( Address Book, Announcements, Calendar, Collaboration, Communications, Content Area, Discussion Board, Dropbox, Email, Glossary, Gradebook, Groups, Homepage, Manual, Messages, My Grades, Observer Tools, Personal Information, Resources, Staff Information, Tasks, The Electric Blackboard, Tools Area, Adaptive Release, Performance Dashboard and Review Status )
3. Click on the Enable check boxes to enable or disable each tool.
4. Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.

More Information

Q: What do the Allow Guest and Allow Observer check boxes do?
A: If you check these check boxes, guests and observers will be able to access the corresponding Blackboard tool. Do not do this unless you are sure you want to give guests and observers the ability to use the tool.
