Add SurveyMore InformationThe Add Survey tool lets you create and place a Blackboard survey in any of the content areas.
Adding a SurveyFrom the Control Panel:
Modifying a Survey’s Text
- Click on the Content Area link where you want the survey added (Syllabus, Course Materials, Assignments, External Links).
- Choose Survey from the
Add Other drop-down menu on the right of the screen.
- Click on the
Go button.
- Click on the Create button to create a new survey or choose an existing survey from the list.
Note: See the Survey Manager tutorial for more information on creating a new survey.- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.
From the Control Panel:
Modifying a Survey’s Options
- Click on the Content Area link where the survey is located (Syllabus, Course Materials, Assignments, External Links).
- Click on the Modify button to the right of the survey.
- Click on the Modify the survey link.
- Click on the Modify button to the right of the information you want to modify.
- Make any desired changes to the survey’s information.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.
From the Control Panel:
- Click on the Content Area link where the survey is located (Syllabus, Course Materials, Assignments, External Links).
- Click on the Modify button to the right of the survey.
- Click on Modify the survey options link.
- Make any desired changes to the survey’s options.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Submit button.
Survey Availability:
- Do you want to make the link visible – Enable this option to give your students access to your survey.
- Allow multiple attempts – Enable this option to let your students take the survey multiple times.
- Set time limit – Enable this option to limit the time your students have to take a survey.
- Display After – Enable this option to set the starting time of a survey. The survey will be available for your students to take after this time.
- Display Until – Enable this option to set the ending time of a survey. The survey will be unavailable for your students to take after this time.
- Set password – Enable this option if you want to make your students enter a password before taking the survey.
Survey Feedback:
- Score Only – Enable this option to only display the status of the survey (complete or incomplete) to your students.
- Detailed Results – Enable this option to display the student’s answers to the survey.
Survey Presentation:
- All at Once – Enable this option to display your whole survey on one screen.
- Question – Enable this option to display one question per screen.
- Prohibit Backtracking – Enable this option to prohibit your students from changing answers to questions they have already answered.
- Randomize Questions – Enable this option to randomize your survey questions.
Q: Why can’t my students see a survey that I have created in the Survey Manager?
A: You need to add it to a content area using the Add Survey tool. You also need to make your survey visible before your students can access it. See the Modifying a Survey’s Options procedure for more information.
Q: Why doesn’t a survey that I have created show up in my Select an existing survey list?
A: You can only add surveys to content areas once. If you have added the survey before, it will not show up on the list of available surveys.
