TO: Faculty Using Blackboard Learning Management System FROM: Information Technology Services (ITS) RE: Blackboard Performance Update 8_2_06 To improve performance and reliability, two new Blackboard servers have been installed and the Blackboard software has been upgraded. If one of the servers fails, users will be shifted to the remaining server. In this situation, users may experience either of the following problems: 1. A web page may refuse to load or the user may receive a timeout message. If this happens, simply reload your browser window by clicking on the reload/refresh button. This will automatically connect you to the other Blackboard server. 2. The Blackboard Virtual Classroom and Lightweight Chat tools (Collaboration Suite) may not work. If the Collaboration server is being restarted, please wait for the server to be restarted and the tools will become available. For restart information, you may also review the System Status web site (http://systemstatus.calpoly.edu).
